My computer is having some serious issues with Source. It didn't always do this, so I'm not sure what to blame.
Every time a flash gets thrown and I'm in the vicinity, my computer goes all Schiavo on me and drops to 2-3 fps at best. It happens before the flash explodes, while it's just in the air, and usually lets up right before the flash disappears from the screen.
I seem to be able to move while this is going on, although I almost always come back and see my dead ass lying on the ground. It's getting to be quite frustrating.
Another strange thing is that it doesn't have this problem when I'm spectating after I've died. The flashes look wonderful in those cases.
Any suggestions?
