Let me start by saying I don't agree with the writer of the review at all…I think the game is awesome. I think the person who wrote the review had high hopes for the game that probably aren't very realistic.
I'm a big fan of FPS games, and have probably played every one that's existed since Wolfenstein. HL2 is by far, without a doubt, the best of the best. As excited as I am about HL2, I'm even more excited at the possibilities for the future of FPS games.

I just read that nubs review. I agree with him and the critisism of the game being linear but wtf game isn't. I'm midway through the game and am having a blast playing it. The graphics rock, the music is kick ass and I love the guns. If that dude wants something other than killing he should try EverQuest and go back to sucking his thumb and living in his mothers basement.
nuff said.....
and foolio the answer is still no, u can't be in my clan.

I just beat HL2 last night, and I had a blast the whole way through. I disagree with every point that guy made. The enemy AI isn't perfect, and probably not as good as advertised. But only a few enemies ever charged my ass, they used cover, avoided exploding barrels, and only a few times did I catch one with a grenade out (and this being a CS forum, who among us can fault them for being caught with a nade out every now and then?) He even had the temerity to state that the game sucks because the enemies never respawn, but the player has unlimited lives. So what, you spend 50 bucks on a game, die once, and have to go rebuy the game? Well isn't THAT a special idea...
He says that so few things are destroyable, and while that's partially true, you have to keep in mind....what is a gun going to do to a bucket? Or a cinderblock? Were you planning on going through the wall by hitting it with a crowbar? The grenades don't blow up walls, because then they'd have to blow up floors...making a poorly placed grenade a game-killer. Realism doesn't take a back seat to crappy programming, it takes a back seat to the game.
He whines about linear levels too, but frankly, every FPS has linear levels, or if not, have areas you have to get to to unlock the next area, then go down a DIFFERENT hallway to GET to that area...all linear in the end. Welcome to the FPS genre.
The last thing that bugged me is that he said that if we want realistic engines, we should watch a movie. After bitching that he didn't have any choices in the game, that the levels were linear, that there was so little area coded, that he wanted to explore the whole city...wtf? Anyone else see a problem there?

First I just want to say, if that dumbass reviewer ever sees this, every game has it's pros and its cons, if you can't deal with that then go back to playing those games that you do like.
the second thing I have to say is you spelled honor and armor wrong, DUMBASS!
