My latency usually stays above 60 or 50 and now it went up to 104 and more, can u help me?

Well start with the obvious stuff. Make sure you dont have stuff like limewire running in the backround. Also make sure you have your connection set right in you steam settings. If these dont work you may want to scan your system for spyware. I would recommend both AdAware, and spybot: search and destroy.(both are free if you find the right version) If this doesnt work, it may just be your internet provider.


Lastly I would recommend messing with your rates. In console type cl_updaterate and change it to your liking(until you dont lag). You can also change cl_rate or something like that, lastly you can change your cl_cmdrate but this seems to only change the way your ping appears to others. I have never noticed a difference.

My connection setting on steam was changed to LAN T1 instead of DLS/256kb , i'll check it to see if its better now, thanks alot.

Also things like Windows Automatic Updates when running in background or Norton Antivirus Auto Update and any programs that require constant updates from internet might slow your coonection and increase your ping.
