I want to get Counterstrike but am unsure of one thing. If i buy the lastest edition(source) will i be able to play on condition zero servers or atleast with those people? Which version has more people playing it? Is the 36 dollar game packet worth it or should i just buy cs: source by itself? my bro plays condition zero and so do a few people i no thats why i ask.

Just get Source, it's the most popular.
Last action hero
Source by far has more people and, I dont even want to start on the future of condition zero compared to source.
Mr.
I have both and since Source came out I haven't played CZ at all. You'll find lots of arguements for playing either 1.6 or CS:Source but very few, if any, that promote CZ over either of them.
Source has better eye-candy and better physics than either 1.6 or CZ. It's a slightly faster paced game and steadily growing in size. Not sure I would say it has more players than 1.6 but I'm pretty sure it has more than CZ. Some people feel that 1.6 plays better and that it provides a better competitive platform than Source but I would disagree with them. For sure it's a matter of personal opinion. Personally I don't like the ability to shoot through supposedly solid walls as a benefit to the game (1.6 and probably CZ too). I like a stone wall to behave like a stone wall so I play Source.
If you're keen to play with your bro and your friends then I would just get CZ, however if you want to play a better game my vote would be for Source. Not sure what the $36 package you are referring to is, since Steam sells HL2 for $40, CS:S (standalone) $20, and the full premium everything package for $80. There is also HL2, CS:S, and DoD:S package for $60.

I judge my opinion about more players on source by the following link...

lol now that i bought the old version of cs i look at that website and see that i probably should have gotten either source or WoW. not that u would know anything about WoW but can u play online without paying for the servers?
Mr.
Nope, WoW is strictly subscription based. Prices vary depending on how much you're willing to pre-pay but it's in the region of $15/month.
That table is also for 'minutes played' rather than 'number of unique players'. WoW is an incredible time hog, such as any rpg games and even more so for MMPORPGs. Most game sessions last several hours to get an objective completed whereas you can quite easily play a quick game of CS:S that lasts 30 mins and be done.
If you're interested in MMPORPGs then I would recomment "Guild Wars" which has great graphics and good gameplay. One of it's best features is that all you have to do is pay for the game and that's it. No monthly subscription charges. It's not quite as persistant as WoW since the only times you'll get to interact with members outside your current party are in towns and villages since everything else is instanced.
