Heya guys, new on here n could do with some help, sure one of u guys would have come across this problem before.

Had HL2 and C/S runnin for over a year now, just upgraded my GFX card cos the old one packed in and the game crashes my system everytime that i try to start it up.

System spec is following:
2.5Mhz P4,
512 RAM,
60GB HDD,
256MB DDR Geforce 6 Gfx, upgrade from 64MB Geforce 4

If you guys have got any ideas it would be real appreciated.

what kind of video card port do u have PCI? AGP? PCIe?

Does it only crash when your start CS:S or any game?

did you COMPLETELY uninstall the drivers for your old card BEFORE you installed your new card and the drivers for it?

its an agp card, only crashes with c:s and half life 2, fine with everything else which i thought was a bit weird.

couldnt uninstall the old drivers/card before install, fan had packed in so the computer would overheat and reboot straight after startup.

Is it overheating still or is that when you had your old card? When your game crashes does it just crash the game or the whole system?

It was overheating on the old card, works fine with the new card on all software's except half life and c:s...

When u try to start either half life or c:s the whole system crashes and reboots givin the "system has recovered from a serious error" msg.

i had that promblem with certain games whn i still had my intergrated video card, i fixed the promblem by getting the new video card driver twice, 1st time it still crashed, but the 2nd time worked might sound weired but it happened so try updating your drivers.
