View Full Version : Counterstrike Graphic Lag in 3rd Person but not 1st

demo321
OKay so i just bought a new acer 8204 laptop for college so i can fire up the occasional game if i want to. its got the 2ghz duo core processor and the x1600 with 2 gigs of ram. its pretty sweet, but...when i play CS (source) it will seem to skip frames. like it will pause only when i zoom out to 3rd person or in frist person if someone throws a grenade and their arm is shown.

ive run the video stress test and it will do the same thing. it will run fine for like 2 seconds and then it will pause on something like the wall for like 4 seconds and then it will keep repeating that. i dont know what to do.

ive downloaded the ATI drivers from the acer website and they are verson 6.14 i believe and right now i am about to do a clean reinstall of the game but i doubt that will help.

any suggestions? thank you very much for your time please help me!

the original coding for the game was not intended for a 3rd person view, so there might be some latent code still there causing problems, but I never play in 3rd person (unless I'm dead and the server allows for 3rd person viewing) but I have not had any video lag when following. It could be a driver issue, the laptop drivers are written specifically for that laptop so you might need to wait for an acer driver update, I'd go ahead and send acer an email with all the details and if you can use fraps or another program to record you playing and showing the video lag. Also update your chipset drivers, if windows is using the microsoft default ones you get functionallity with no performance.

thank you for that comment but umm what type of chipset drivers shouldi look for?

Mr.
The company that built your laptop and installed your gfx card. They should have drivers specific for your card based on other items in the laptop. If that fails you can try loading the ATI standard drivers however it is very important that you use the ones supplied by Acer first.

Mr. is correct, the last time I had a pc laptop with an ATi graphics chip in it, the standard ATi drivers would not install. As for your chipset drivers you need to get your model number of your laptop, and then look up the chipset drivers on acers website, they will show you who the chipset was made by, and if there is no new drivers you can try the maker of the chipset by going to their website.
