View Full Version : OCsystem ripoff

So the story goes. I decided to do some upgrades to my PC. I buy everything I need, an Abit AN-8, an Athlon 64 3700, an Ultra 500 watt PS (haven't heard anything good about them yet, but not OCing so it doesn't matter). Only thing I don't get is new RAM. I have what I thought was a nice set of DDR400 dual channel from OCSystem that I bought like 3 or 4 years ago. So I boot up the system for the first time and it defults to a 333FSB. I check the BIOS, multiplier is at 12 and the FSB is at 200. So I go to the Crucial site and use their memory scanner to see just what I have in my system. It comes back as ****ing PC2700! I bought new RAM already, but it clearly states on the label on the old RAM that is it PC3200. Funny how the company doesn't even have a working website anymore. If they ever make it back in business stay away.

Have you tried using the uGuru overclocking utility that should be included with the motherboard yet? I'm noticing most modern motherboard manufacturers are phasing out bios overclocking in favor of software utilities designed to simplify controlling CPU multiplier and clock settings.

I'd keep the ddr400's in there and try uGuru.
