The navy has finally developed a prototype for a rail gun. The prototype uses 8 megajoules of energy and is much smaller than the anticipated 64 megajoule final model. The final gun is expected to have a range of over 200 hundred miles and will have just as much power as a tomahawk but the projectile will only weigh about 5 kilograms.

Pretty sweet if you ask me...
