it is almost official because im still taking suggestions until i actually order the pieces. thx for the help friends :D

well because i found out that the rebate for the ram is ending on the 31st the total for all the stuff will be $1408. also im going to need a new monitor and mouse/keyboard. also adding vista-64bit the total comes up to 1896.07 with shipping. hopefully i will be able to get my father to pay for it all because im probably going to have to pay him back for the extra stuff over $1500. i guess we will wait and see.

also i thought vista-64bit was going to be more expensive...

Very nice. The one thing I've heard about the 2900s is that they get very hot. Make sure you have plenty of cooling. Laff, I just saw pictures of your case, you should be alright! ;)

the 6600 should be a great chip, from what I've read the 6400 will overclock better but you'll need a better cooling solution than the stock cooler.

WHat do you mean? There is nothing wrong with DirectX10 video cards.

i have read the both the dx10 cards are very power hungry atm and ati is working on a dx10 card that doesnt run so hot and doesnt consume nearly as much power, but with the same amount of performance as the others. idk i guess i will read up on this a tad bit more before i make my final decision.

from what im reading right now the ati hd 2900 xt card kinda blows compared to the 8800 640 GTS and the 8800 640 GTX. if im going dx10 i might just go with the card u started me out with martin. i am still going to read up on this more though.

aight after reading up on the whole problem of video cards the 8800GTS 640mb is the best for the money on the market right now. i will be going with this as of now.
