View Full Version : Welcome TCS Members!

[FU2]InYourEye
I just wanted to officially welcome the members of the Crack Shack who will be merging with us. It's good to have "the band back together" again.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with some of the history behind CSGZ & TCS...here you go:

Back in the day [FU2]JimmyCarter launched a Counter Strike server, Jimmy's Crack Shack, for all the FU2 guys to play on. We had all been playing on a number of servers and as a group were getting tired of not being able to admin those servers. Most public servers were (and still are) over tun with hackers and morons...Jimmy took the lead and set up a server so we could do things "better" than the other servers we played on.

Jimmy's Crack Shack (JCS) went through a number of changes. Jimmy hosted it in his house for awhile, then moved to an off site host. The forums & site also developed over time. At a certain point and for a number of reasons Jimmy decided to close JCS. Some of the "regs" on the server didn't want to see it die and they picked up where Jimmy left off...hence the birth of The Crack Shack (TCS).

Around the time TCS started up I (and a lot of the FU2 guys) were already out of the Counter-Strike scene. I don't know a lot about TCS, but do know they carried on the fine traditions started by JCS. Great server, lots of "regs", and generally kept having good old fashioned CS fun.

In November 2004 Valve released Half Life 2 & Counter Strike Source. A couple of the original JCS members decided it was time to get back in the game - Source was worth it. A new site and server were formed, Counter Strike Game Zone (CSGZ). CSGZ was launched in November 2004 with 4 members & 24 man server. Over the next 3 months, leading up to today, CSGZ has grown from a small forum with 4 members to a pretty busy forum with close to 200 members and 2,100 posts. We have over 15 server admins who help keep the server free from hacks, cheats and idiots. On average, the CSGZ server gets 500+ connection attempts a day.

TCS was considering running two servers (1.6 & Source), or just switching over to Source. The owners of CSGZ decided to contact them and suggest a merger, they agreed, and as of today we're all one big happy counter strike family again. There's a lot of history with this group & server (the above is a quick summary...I could go on for hours) & I for one am happy we're all back together again.

So here's a big welcome, and thank you, to the members of TCS. Welcome to the Game Zone, and thanks for keeping the traditions started by Jimmy back in the day together over the last year+. God knows someone had to, cause Jimmy hasn't done sh1t lately;)
