View Full Version : Evga 6800 Ultra And Css

MartinX
I just got Evga GeForce 6800 Ultra, I need to share this with yoy guys. Tried to play some cs today on CSGZ Server. All Video sttings maxxed out, there was nothing left to move up and change for better. Best it gets. FPS were around 60-70, depending on how much action was taking place. If your looking for perfect HL2 and CSS video card get this. Only 425 bucks on newegg with 30 dollars mail in rebate. I still can belive that CSS can look so pretty. Ohh and also I use Sony 19" HS-Series Flat Panel Digital Display SDM-HS95P/B as my monitor, looks very nice crystal clean and all you can imagine. My old Fx5700 ULTRA cant even compare to this sweet video card.

Hmmm cant get over 60 FPS what the hell? I use LCD resolution with everythinkg maxed out, no lag usually but my FPS cant goover 60 and sometimes drop to even 25. Any ideas?

I almost bought that card today...still a little on the high side for me.

My FPS varies from map to map.

in 1.6 my fps never broke 60....but in souce my go over 60 but also go way below 60

Try removing sync :)

Oh, and I use ATI 9700 Pro, and my FPS fluctuates depending on the map, but usually doesn't fall below 80 .... $430.00 seems kinda expensive for slower performance martin :P

But i'd need more info to compare, as I play ay 1024x768 MAX everything ... if you're at 1600X1200 that's a different story ....

Mr.
How do you get a 9700 pro to perform like that in Source with everything maxed out? O_o

Bender
I don't screw with anything ... All straight install. Nothing extra whatsoever.

My machine isn't even the greatest Machine on the block :)

AMD64 3000+
1GB Dual channel Geil Memory
ATI 9700 Pro
60Gb ATA133 drive(soon to be replaced with STA)
And a FAT freaking pipe to my Machine! 6Gb down 256 up

No tweaks etc .... as I said it does fluctuate from map to map, and I play at 1024X768 ... don't know if that's the diff there

Bender I keep my VSYNC ON to get sync on my refrash rate, so video card and monitor are on same number, I use LCD screen so VSYNC must be ON or otherwise my screen will act jumpy and make funny vertical lines as i trun left and right. This is the only reason why my FPS are always 60, when VSYN is OFF i get about 120. But again screen looks shitty.

Bender
That's why it stays at 60 then :)

Hey what res you playing at Martin? And do you tweak settings?
