hi, i've played counterstrike before in the past. i just installed a new game on my laptop and i try to connect to a game and no list comes up. i found this site in a search, and i even tried to log onto your server to no avail. can anyone help me as to why it won't work? thanks!

Are you getting any type of error message?

Are you sure your laptop can handle CS:Source? You may want to check the minimum specs again just to be sure.

I assume you are connecting via STEAM. Are you able to get a server list at all? How about firewalls, do you have any installed?

Firewall or router. Are the ports for CS being opened (if necessary)?

hi, thanks everyone who tried to help. i realized last night after 4 hours of trying to figure it out, that you guys are playing counterstrike source and i just have the regular counterstrike. my laptop can play the game, i was playing a little bit today already. where is CS:source? do i have to buy a whole new game? or can i just get a download? and also, can anyone recommend a regular cs server if i can't play source? thanks again!!

If you're using Steam (which you are), you can just double-click on the icon for CS:S and it will bring up a screen where you can order the game. Basically just pick the package you want, put in your credit card info, and buy it. Then you can download/install it immediately after that. The download/install time will vary, but it'll be a decently long wait.

What are the specs on the computer you're using? I'm just curious if the lag you're seeing is because of your system or because of your connection to the server.

There should be a ton of west coast servers you can connect to that should give you a good ping...although I imagine 1.6 servers are not quite as popular as they were 6 months ago. Not everyone, but a lot of people, have started the transition over to Source:-)

On a side note, do you do web design work as your profession or "on the side"...or both?

I don't know what my specs are, but i have a sony vaio laptop, top of the line one. that's pretty much all i know, oh...and i have windows XP. i should see if can scrounge up some cash for source..lol

as for web design, i do both for a job job and i do it on the side for nice people. i'm currently looking for a better job that pays more and is more fun. i've been doing the same job for 5+ years and it's starting to get boring, especially since i've only gotten 1 raise. so if you know of anything, send it my way. i'll PM you with my portfolio if you'd like :)
