I have had a beta of 64-bit XP shipped from MS for like a year and a half lol.

Problem is that most of the 32-bit programs that you have will be incompatible. Also...you will need 64-bit drivers for all of your hardware. Not available for everything...so BE CAREFUL and do your homework before you try this.

I looked at cnet.com's slideshow review of this OS. What it boiled down to is that just about the only thing that worked flawlessly was the 64bit MS Paint that came bundled with the OS. Even the windows update site had to launch the 32bit browser because it wasn't compatible; I think that's pretty damn hilarious.

There's 64bit processors out, and now a 64bit OS, but there's hardly any software that's 64bit. Right now, it seems rather pointless unless you'd like to make an investment in the not-so-close future.

The driver issue (or lack there of) is what's holding me back - I'll let everyone else work out all the BS before I upgrade.

If anyone installs the 64 bit OS on their machine let us know how it goes...
